Beating the January Blues at Duet

Stay Connected to Your Community

Community is at the heart of Duet and our on-site team are dedicated to connecting residents, even during lockdown. Duet has a range of amazing virtual activities in the pipeline for this lockdown – from art classes to underground tours of Manchester. These virtual get-togethers are not only a fun way to spend your evening, they are a fantastic way to get to know your neighbours better and socialise with others over lockdown. It is easy to feel isolated during lockdown, especially if you are working from home, which is why the Duet App is a great way to stay feeling connected to others throughout the day. You can use the app simply to stay up to date with news from the Duet team, or you can also reach out to other residents – cute pet pictures are always a hit!

Ready, Set, Cook!

If you have made a New Year’s resolution to do more cooking or find you are treating yourself to more takeaways than usual over lockdown, then use this month as an opportunity to get creative with your meals. Whether you’ve seen some interesting recipes you’d like to recreate on social media or have a recipe book that’s yet to be opened, January 2021 is the month to start channelling your inner Gordon Ramsay – and Duet’s spacious, fully-fitted kitchens make it easier to do just that. Cooking healthy meals from scratch will not only make you feel better physically, but are also a rewarding and productive pastime.

Pet Friendly Fun!

If you are suffering with low mood or struggling without social interaction, spending quality time with your pets may be the answer. At Duet, we know how much joy a pet can bring which is why all our apartments are pet-friendly. Whilst it goes without saying that a furry friend is a commitment for life and not just lockdown, a snuggle on the sofa or walk in the park with your pet can really boost your mood on a dreary January day.

Have a Moment of Mindfulness.

With so much difficult news on our TVs and social media timelines, plus the personal difficulties that come with both lockdown and this time of year, taking a moment for your mindfulness can do wonders to help your overall mood. Just because you are spending some more time alone or perhaps feeling a little less busy, it doesn’t mean that you are necessarily able to unwind. Make the most of the upcoming guided meditation class for Duet residents, hosted by Conscious Calm Yoga, to really help yourself relax and find some peace amongst the new year madness.

Shake-up your Surroundings.

After 3 national lockdowns and months of local restrictions, many Mancunians have spent more time at home this past year than ever before. If you are finding yourself feeling bored or uninspired by your interior after so much time seeing it, then January is a perfect time to freshen up your surroundings. There are a number of super simple things you can do to shake-up your apartment - replacing old cushions and bedding is a great way to add luxury to your home, whilst adding colourful appliances and crockery to your kitchen is a great way to boost your mood throughout the day. If you are finding it difficult spending so much time indoors, order your favourite plants or flowers online to add a touch of the great outdoors to your apartment.
